Hello and welcome to our shiny new website and our shiny new Blog. It is here that you will find information about upcoming events in Exeter’s busy calendar. And what a calendar it is! This year sees another great selection of comedy acts, rock and pop music concerts, classical music performances, not to mention the many plays at Exeter’s theatres, the street markets, festivals and the sports fixtures. All in all it’s a culturally rich and exciting year ahead for us and our visitors. As well as all of these cultural goings on, and there really is something for everyone, Exeter is proud to be a host city for the 2015 Rugby world cup. How exiting is that? So in September and October the city will give itself over to all things rugby as Sandy Park, home to our premiership rugby club, The Chiefs, host three matches from group’s C & D.

This really is going to get the city buzzing so book early to avoid disappointment. Between now and then there is a huge amount of stuff going on in and around the city. Here is just a selection of what’s coming up in the next couple of months:

Comedian Allan Carr will be yap, yap, yapping his way around the UK with his latest show ‘Yap, Yap, Yap!’ and is coming to Exeter on the 13th of February with his award winning comedy. This show should be well worth a look, as The Independent review say he’s ‘A comedian who owns the space is working in so much, he could put a flag up.’ What’s more, with Valentines the next day why not make a weekend of it?

For music fans Exeter’s Corn Exchange hosts The Unthanks on the 22nd of February. This well-established modern folk duo make beautiful, eclectic music that blends traditional folk from the north of England with the duos varied influences, which range from Minimalist composer Steve Reich, through Robert Wyatt of Ship Building fame through to the ever evolving and off the wall Tom Waits! This heady mix really could go very wrong indeed, but in the expert hands of The Unthanks they seem made for each other. Or how about and evening with perennially popular Monty Don? That’s right, silken voiced horticultural hunk Monty Don will be in Exeter for an evening on the 8th of March talking about his fascinating and varied life, his travels to the most beautiful gardens of the world and more besides.

And that really is just a tiny snap shot of what’s to come in the city in the next couple of months, there really is much more happening than I can hope to include here so why not visit www.heartofdevon.com/exeter/whats-on and check out some of the other up and coming events in Exeter exciting spring calendar?

Well that’s all for now folks! Check back soon for more news about what’s what and what’s happening in The South West’s capital city, Exeter.
